Poetry & Prose Writers Guild began over 40 years ago in the heart and mind of one man who chose to write despite being told that he'd never make anything of what he was writing because he didn't have the corresponding degrees that are expected of "real" writers. But he wrote anyway — not because he had something to prove, but because he loved what he did. It was a part of who he is, not just a thing he does.
As he aged, he sought out others with the same or greater passion for writing, and the guild was formed.
